Working With Others - CAB Summer 2023 Event Report
At our Summer term CAB gathering we were hosted by the fantastic team from the Fitzherbert Community Hub. They explained how this extraordinary project came about and the challenges of working as a cross-agency coalition. The Fitzherbert project was a collaboration between Arundel and Brighton Diocesan Trust, Voices in Exile migrant charity, The Real Junk Food Project and Brighton Table Tennis Club. Project manager Herb Nahapiet was joined by Fr. Kieron O'Brien and fundraiser Fran Anderson in explaining the process and taking questions from the floor. There is an excellent, must-watch video explaining how the collaboration came about. Fran also drew our attention to a great grant finding tool and she promised to run a future CAB evening session on fundraising which we will announce in due course.
We heard from Rev. Martin Poole of St Luke's Prestonville who gave a brilliant presentation on 'a week in the life' of his church, showing vividly what 'Small Church Action Brighton' can look like. Martin has also recently published the book Church Beyond Walls: Christian Spirituality at Large which expands on this vision, is an excellent read and includes pictures!
We announced that our Autumn gathering will be the Jubilee+ national conference 'Churches that Change Communities 2023', hosted at the Clarendon Centre on Saturday 4th November 2023 and open for bookings now.
